Fed: Howard inspects fire control room
CANBERRA, Jan 19 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today inspected the fire controlroom at Canberra's emergency services headquarters and chatted with army personnel andfirefighters.
Mr Howard looked at maps and congratulated emergency workers for their efforts in fightingthe fires which have swept through the national capital, destroying up to 400 homes.
He also met ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope, who chaired an emergency cabinet meetingat the headquarters this morning.
