Qld: Dams slowly rising as rain continues

Rain's given a small boost to dams in south-east Queensland .. but authorities say
a good soaking's needed to improve water storage levels.

SEQWater says an average of 18 millimetres fell on the Wivenhoe .. Somerset and North
Pine dams overnight .. bringing the total rain on the dams to 53mm since Saturday.

The combined content of all three dams is just under 17 per cent of capacity.

It says what the area needs now is some strong follow-up rain today and tomorrow ..

and that's just what's forecast .. with rain expected to ease on Friday.

The last significant inflows into south-east Queensland dams occurred in early 2004.
